Mission

We are living in an extraordinary moment. When every wave of governance by decree results in profound loss, instability, and cruelty, it becomes clear that cruelty is the policy itself. Inaction today risks the loss of the continued pursuit of a freer and more just society.

In isolation, our action is powerless. Social media outrage, petition signing, and even calls for congressional support have had little impact on the rollout of deeply harmful policy. Assaults across government, science, education, healthcare, and even fundamental of constitutional rights have left many of us paralyzed and susceptible to the whims of an authoritarian minority. While we try to stamp out the individual fires they have lit, that minority is weaving a new dream into the fabric of our society – that those with money and power can individually dictate the terms of our lives and our communities. 

Our dream is more powerful.

We believe that dignity, human decency, kindness, and compassion are fundamental to a cooperative government for the people and by the people. We believe that freedom, equity, due process, and respect of law, values enshrined in our constitution, are not optional features of a functioning society. We believe that it is our responsibility and obligation to protect those among us without the means to protect themselves. We believe that reasonable people with good intent and common respect for the value of human life can even disagree on difficult questions, but still work towards the creation of a more just society.

OUR DREAM IS MORE POWERFUL. It is a dream that has echoed throughout our history, and when invoked, has built societies that have been better than those that have come before. It is time to invoke it again, but it is a dream that cannot be accessed unless we are willing to
